Science

Easy Blog Photo
Today in science we were estimating how fast we could go on a skateboard. What we had to do was see how long it would take us to go 10 metres on the skateboard.
When we got our time we had to divide it with how far we went which was 10 metres and that is the answer of how fast you went. Someone in our science class went 3 meters per second.

Hard Materials Technology

Easy Blog Photo
At technology we are doing hard materials. We make all kinds of things like speaker boxes and sunglasses. At the moment we are making puzzles where we paint a square and then cut it into lots of shapes. Hard materials is really fun because we get to do all the wiring, cutting, painting and more. Next term we will be doing cooking and I can't wait!

No More Uniforms

I don’t think any schools in Aotearoa should have uniforms. Kids should have a choice in this and not be forced to wear uniform. I have several reasons why we should have no school uniform, they are: kids having some choice, making it easy for parents to find their children, plain uniform styles and children trying to find a senior.

Parents might have had to wear school uniform when they were a child but in this day and time we should have our own choice about whether we do or if we don’t wear uniform. Some families are poor and won’t have enough money to buy a uniform and also pay for food and their house.

If it’s break time and a parent wants to pick up their children it would be really hard to find them because everyone is wearing the same thing and their children could be anywhere.

Uniforms these days are out of style with only one colour. I would be happy even if you just add another colour. One colour can make a difference, even if it’s black.

Lastly, if a child gets hurt or gets picked on by their friends they won’t know where to look for to find a senior in the school. They could be looking everywhere with a hurt leg trying to find a senior in the same uniform as everyone else.

I think no schools in Aotearoa should have uniform and that’s that!.

Classroom Renovation

This is the blackboard that was found behind the whiteboard in Room 5. The classroom is going to be renovated and the whiteboard was removed. It was lovely to find a link to some school history.

Improving our area

For our Inquiry we have been focusing on developing ideas about Springston. We had to design something that we thought would improve Springston. Here are our designs:

Here is my design, I chose to do a spring statue because it represents Springston in a really cool way! I believe that this will attract tourists and others. I want people to know where Springston like Rakaia, they have a fish! Sophie W.

For my design I chose to do a park because Springston doesn't really have a park and I think it represents Springston well. I think this because the reason Springston is called Springston is that the springs or water in Springston was first found as being a prime part in running Springston. I have a pond and a river to represent that.
